Cúrsa na Chéad Bhliana (First Year Course) has been running successfully at Coláiste Mhuire Loch an Iúir for nearly thirty years. The fourteen-day course is designed to introduce students to the Gaeltacht and language classes are targeted at levels equivalent to Year 8 in school.

Cultural and sporting activities are organised throughout the course and students are encouraged to use as much Irish as possible during these events.

This course is designed exclusively for first year students of Irish. However students who have begun to learn Irish in Year 9 at school are very welcome to attend this course.

Cúrsa na Chéad Bhliana is designed specifically to ensure that children of a young age experience their first Gaeltacht experience with other children of similar ages.
